Bolinder-Munktell

Born from the union of two pioneering Swedish firms, Bolinder and Munktell – specialists in engines and tractors respectively – Bolinder-Munktell (BM) emerged in 1932. During the 1940s, Volvo initiated a collaborative relationship with BM, eventually leading to a full acquisition in 1950. For two decades following the purchase, the Bolinder-Munktell identity persisted, until the introduction of the Volvo BM designation in the 1970s. Ultimately, Volvo divested its entire tractor division, transferring ownership to Valmet.
