Tracing its origins back to 1917, Komatsu initially served as a manufacturing division, crafting essential mining tools for its then-parent organization. The company formally established its independence in 1921. A pivotal moment arrived in 1931 with the unveiling of Japan's inaugural crawler tractor, a landmark achievement in domestic engineering. Collaborating through a strategic alliance known as KIMCO, Komatsu produced tractors for International Harvester throughout the 1970s and into the early 1980s. Currently, Komatsu stands as the world’s second-leading producer of construction equipment, a testament to its enduring innovation and quality.
