Leader

From 1913 through 1949, the moniker 'Leader' graced tractors utilized across the American landscape, passing through the ownership of multiple enterprises. The story began in 1913 when the Leader Engine Company absorbed Midland Tractor, initiating tractor production within the state of Michigan. Subsequently, in 1915, Leader joined forces with other companies in a consolidation that created Dayton Foundry & Machine, rebranded as Dayton-Dick. This entity continued tractor manufacturing in Illinois until 1924, eventually evolving into Dayton-Dowd. The celebrated 'Leader' designation experienced a revival in the 1940s, adorning compact utility tractors crafted in Ohio until the brand's final year of production in 1949.
