Fendt Announces Temporary Halt to Tractor Production Due to Supply Issues
Fendt Halts Tractor Manufacturing Amidst Supply Chain Disruptions
AGCO – April 21, 2021
AGCO/Fendt, a leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery, has announced a temporary cessation of production activities at its facilities in Marktoberdorf and Asbach-Baumenheim, effective for a period of seven workdays beginning April 22nd, 2021.
The continuing global impact of the Corona pandemic is placing immense pressure on supply networks worldwide. The resurgence of the pandemic in its third wave is creating difficulties for businesses across Europe. Erratic material deliveries are consistently restricting the productive capabilities of numerous manufacturers, including AGCO/Fendt.
A critical shortage stemming from a complete operational standstill at a key German provider of cast components necessitates this brief interruption to Fendt tractor production, scheduled from April 22nd through April 30th.
"For the past year, the manufacturing sector has been navigating an emergency situation, largely attributable to comprehensive supplier shutdowns and logistical delays. Naturally, these conditions are impacting our operations as well," explains Christoph Groblinghoff, Chairman of the AGCO/Fendt Management Board. “Simultaneously, the agricultural machinery industry globally is benefiting from a level of demand not observed since 2011. We are currently operating with fully committed order books for Fendt tractors and will implement a range of strategic initiatives to address the anticipated production shortfall in the coming months, ensuring timely delivery to our customers worldwide.”
