Introducing the New Deere 5E Series Utility Tractors

Deere & Company – June 7, 2022

John Deere proudly unveils enhancements to its 5 Series Utility Tractors, broadening the range of choices available to rural landowners, agricultural professionals, livestock handlers, and fleet managers. These updates are designed to simplify the process of selecting a tractor perfectly suited to the diverse demands of daily tasks.

“Across the entire 5 Series range, customers now possess a greater selection to pinpoint a tractor that aligns with both their requirements and budget, and the ability to tailor configurations to meet specific job demands. For first-time tractor owners, proactive service and maintenance alerts offer added peace of mind, while connectivity via the TractorPlus App keeps them informed,” explains Greg Christensen, marketing manager at John Deere.

For the 2023 model year, the three-cylinder 5E Series introduces a new Premium Cab option, an engine designed without emission-related regeneration requirements, expanded tire choices, the availability of a true third function mid-valve for streamlined loader and grapple operations, and three new model designations. The 5E three-cylinder lineup comprises four models: the 5050E, offered with an open operator station, and the 5060E, 5067E, and 5075E, available with open, standard, or premium cab configurations.

The Premium Cab boasts a redesigned right-hand console for intuitive operation and includes electronic, quick-raise/lower controls, enabling the effortless adjustment of implements to pre-set depths with a single button press. Enhanced operator comfort is further provided by an adjustable air ride seat, a factory-installed instructor seat, a Bluetooth®-compatible radio, a USB port, and a cab microphone for hands-free mobile device use.

“These user-friendly tractors are ideally suited for rural property maintenance – moving earth, rocks, timber, or snow – and deliver ample power for part-time farmers and ranchers involved in hay production, bale handling, and livestock feeding,” Christensen states. “Now, with expanded comfort and convenience features, improvements in operational efficiency, and the elimination of engine regeneration, the 5E enables work to be completed quickly, allowing customers to concentrate on their most important priorities.”

John Deere is also releasing updates for the 5M Series Tractors. “We’ve redefined expectations for utility tractors by integrating AutoTrac and offering more transmission choices in the 5M for the 2022 model year,” Christensen notes. “For 2023, we’ve built upon these advancements, delivering increased horsepower and versatility.”

The engine from the larger 6M Utility Tractor will now power the four-cylinder versions of the 5M, adding five horsepower and introducing new model options: the 5095M, 5105M, 5120M, and 5130M. The 5075M remains in the lineup as a three-cylinder, 74-horsepower option, available with either a cab or open station. High-crop and low-profile models will also benefit from a horsepower increase, including the 5105MH, 5105ML, 5120ML, and 5130ML.

The 5M's versatility is further enhanced by an available bar-axle option, providing customers with the flexibility to adjust tire spacing up to 90 inches. This allows for reduced crop damage during wide windrow baling or greater stability when mowing on inclines. Tire spacing can also be narrowed to match row spacing in row-crop applications. The bar axle also facilitates the addition of dual tires, enhancing stability, reducing ground pressure, and improving operation on uneven terrain.

Three transmission options are available for the 5M Series. The field-proven PowrReverser transmission offers a simple, two-lever system for range and gear changes and is available on 75- to 120-horsepower models. The PowrQuad PLUS and Powr8 transmissions, designed for 95- to 130-horsepower models, deliver a streamlined operator experience with a single shift lever that puts shifting range and speed at the operator’s command without the need for a foot clutch. All 5M transmissions continue to incorporate a left-hand reverser for effortless direction changes in various applications.

Customer launch begins June 6th, with production starting in November 2022.
