Introducing the New Deere 9RX Tractor Series

John Deere – February 28, 2024

John Deere today unveiled its latest generation of high-performance four-track tractors, headlined by a class-leading 830 horsepower offering. As agricultural landscapes evolve with fluctuating weather, a diminishing workforce, and escalating costs, the need for expedited field preparation, planting, and harvesting – all while minimizing per-acre expenses – has never been more pressing. The 2025 range of powerful four-track tractors from John Deere boasts three innovative models, incorporating enhanced engine and hydraulic systems, cutting-edge technology suites, a reimagined cab experience, and much more.

“These aren’t merely incremental refinements,” explained Michael Porter, Go-to-Market Manager for the John Deere tractor line. “This is a complete overhaul, a ground-up redesign. We’re introducing three entirely new models and a comprehensive array of new features, all meticulously engineered to deliver tangible benefits in operating speed, in-field efficiency, and long-term farm resilience.”

The new tractor lineup comprises three high-horsepower four-track models: the 9RX 710, the 9RX 770, and the flagship 9RX 830.

Prepared for Autonomy

To empower farmers in preparing their operations for an autonomous future, both wheeled and four-track MY25 8 Series and 9 Series tractors will be offered with an autonomy-ready package, allowing for a seamless transition to fully autonomous operation when the time is right for their individual farms.

“The autonomy-ready configuration incorporates all the hardware, software, and safety features we currently foresee being essential for autonomous operation down the line,” Porter stated.

The advanced autonomy-ready package will feature rear implement ethernet connectivity, improved visibility systems, a back-up alarm, a robust 330-amp alternator, a brake controller and valve, and all the necessary connectors, controllers, and wiring harnesses. The sole additional element required to complete autonomous operations will be the perception system – a suite of cameras and vision processing units crucial for autonomous navigation.

“The adoption of autonomous operations should be a deliberate and well-considered process,” Porter emphasized. “But when farmers are ready to make the leap, we want to ensure they can transition quickly and effortlessly.”

Next-Generation Engines and Hydraulic Power

The three new 9RX models will be powered by the JD18 engine from John Deere Power Systems. This Final Tier 4/Stage V-compliant 18-liter engine achieves emissions compliance using exhaust-gas recirculation technology, eliminating the need for diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and potentially saving farmers significant costs on DEF consumption each season.

Combined with the new engine, an optional, high-output 168-GPM triple-pump hydraulic system instills confidence in farmers, enabling them to pull wider and heavier air-seeding implements over various terrains while maintaining optimal tractor and fan speeds.

“With power outputs reaching up to 830 horsepower, hydraulic capacity of up to 168 gallons per minute, and a ballast capacity of up to 84,000 pounds, the new 9RX models are ideally suited for demanding jobs and large-scale operations, facilitating faster field preparation and planting while reducing overall operating expenses,” Porter explained.

CommandView 4 Plus Cab Enhancements

The innovations extend beyond the machinery itself. The redesigned CommandView 4 Plus cab boasts a 15% increase in floor space and a 20% improvement in right-hand-side visibility, maximizing storage capacity, comfort, and situational awareness. Operators are shielded from bumps, ruts, and noise thanks to the new cab suspension system, offering a full 3 degrees of motion and an isolated subframe.

“Operating a tractor for extended periods each day can be physically demanding, even for experienced professionals,” Porter noted. “The additional space and enhanced visibility allow operators to work more comfortably, with ample room for personal items and a clearer view of their surroundings.”

Advanced Technology Suite

The new 9RX models continue John Deere’s legacy by offering the highest levels of standard technology features, including the G5Plus CommandCenter Display and Integrated StarFire 7500 receiver. An optional G5 Advanced technology package with SF-RTK delivers the ultimate in precision capabilities.

“The combination of the G5Plus display and the optional G5 Advanced technology package grants farmers access to a comprehensive portfolio of intelligence and productivity features,” Porter stated. “This includes AutoTrac Turn Automation, AutoTrac Implement Guidance, AutoPath planning, and more. Coupled with the John Deere Operations Center and JDLink connectivity, you have a complete technology solution that provides access to field and machine data anytime, anywhere.”

It All Adds Up

“We often focus on numbers and specifications,” Porter commented. “But ultimately, these machines are designed to help farmers meet critical seeding, planting, and field preparation timelines. For corn and soybean growers, the 9RX models enable wider implement usage and reduce the number of passes required in the spring and fall. For small grain farmers, the increased engine and hydraulic power allow them to pull fully loaded air seeders across virtually any terrain without slowing down. And regardless of the crops being grown, the machine will be ready for autonomous operations when the farmer decides to implement it.”

The new MY25 high-horsepower 9RX models will be available for order starting in mid-March.
