New Holland Elevates the PowerStar Lineup

CNH – February 11, 2025

For generations, New Holland’s PowerStar Series tractors have represented a benchmark for robust power, versatile functionality, and operator comfort. The latest iteration continues this legacy, delivering enhanced performance alongside a modernized exterior, a more inviting cabin experience, and a comprehensive suite of features designed to boost productivity across the entire PowerStar range – encompassing the 90, 100, 110, and 120 models.

“These evolved PowerStar tractors redefine expectations for what a utility tractor can achieve,” states Lena Patton, North American Product Marketing Manager at New Holland. “The exterior showcases striking design revisions, including a newly sculpted hood with Connective Flow aesthetics, alongside updated LU Series front loaders and larger-diameter tires. Inside the VisionView cab, operators will discover a significant boost to efficiency thanks to an improved seat, a sophisticated digital instrument panel, an expansive high-visibility roof panel, and an intuitive loader joystick.”

Empowering the PowerStar Legacy

Power remains central to the utility tractor experience, and the PowerStar Series delivers emphatically. Beneath the redesigned hood lies a potent and fuel-efficient FPT Industrial 3.6-liter four-cylinder engine, standard across all four models.

“We understand our customers prioritize solutions that minimize fuel expenses,” Patton explains. “While retaining the proven common rail fuel injection technology from previous generations, these engines now benefit from a lengthened stroke and increased displacement, resulting in enhanced performance and optimized fuel economy.”

This lineup adheres to stringent Stage V emissions standards, achieving a 40% reduction in particulate matter compared to Tier 4B. Featuring a 3.4-gallon (13-liter) DEF tank and utilizing Compact HI-eSCR 2 technology, these tractors deliver heightened torque – up to five horsepower increase – and exceptional efficiency. For optimal visibility and a compact footprint – essential during loader operations – the Compact HI-eSCR 2 system is seamlessly integrated beneath the hood, complemented by a newly designed U-shaped exhaust. Combining this with a larger fuel tank and extended 600-hour service intervals, operators will realize substantial operational benefits.

Engineered for Enhanced Utility

A 12x12 transmission with a column-mounted electronic power shuttle is available on the larger three models (100, 110, and 120), while operators can further enhance their capabilities with the proven 24x24 Dual Command transmission, offered as an option across the entire range. The Dual Command transmission shares the same electronic power shuttle but incorporates a Hi-Lo speed selection within each of the four gears.

“With a simple button press on the gearshift lever, operators can swiftly adjust speed, making the Dual Command transmission ideal for challenging field or crop conditions, particularly when utilizing PTO-driven implements,” Patton adds.

For added convenience, the PowerClutch button conveniently located on the lever allows operators to shift gears without engaging the clutch pedal.

On both 12x12 and 24x24 Dual Command transmission models, a Dynamic Start-Stop feature – often referred to as “brake-to-clutch” – is included to minimize operator fatigue during tasks involving frequent stops, such as round baling. Once activated, operators simply need to apply the brake pedal to halt the tractor and release it to resume operation.

LU Series Loaders Amplify Productivity

A completely new range of factory-installed LU Series front loaders are offered specifically for the PowerStar Series, representing a leap forward in performance. These loaders deliver increased lifting capacity, greater lift height, faster cycle times, superior visibility, simplified coupling, and refined control.

Customers can choose between the non-self-leveling 650LU, ideal for standard-duty applications, or the mechanically self-leveling 655LU for increased lift capacity. A skid-steer-style or Euro-style quick-attach faceplate is available, alongside a third function diverter valve for operating attachments like grapple buckets, and a soft ride system to absorb shocks, minimizing fatigue for both the operator and the tractor.

To ensure greater stability and lifting power, the loader's attachment point positions the center of gravity closer to the tractor’s rear axle. An open-center hydraulic system comes standard with a 21.7 gallon per minute (82.1 liters per minute) implement pump – a 35% increase over prior models – for quicker loader response. Operators will appreciate the exceptional visibility afforded by the sloped arms that mirror the hood’s contours and linkage positioned beneath each arm, rather than above on the 655LU.

Loader removal and installation are now even easier thanks to the integrated standard multi-connection coupler. This coupler streamlines the process by housing all hydraulic lines within a single unit, enabling quick and simultaneous removal or installation.

To further enhance productivity, a new joystick is available on Dual Command models. This joystick controls not only the loader but also incorporates buttons for the shuttle, Hi/Lo shift, and preset engine speed toggling. By allowing operators to simultaneously lift and shuttle with a single hand during repetitive tasks, efficiency is significantly boosted.

“We’ve crafted the perfect partner for a PowerStar,” Patton concludes. “When combined with the responsive power and hydraulics these tractors offer – alongside their ideal balance of weight, stability, and visibility – we are confident operators will achieve new heights in productivity.”

Refined VisionView Cab

While retaining the ergonomic control layout of the VisionView cab, operators will find new levels of comfort and productivity-enhancing features. Alongside a new air suspension seat, a sophisticated digital instrument cluster provides comprehensive insight into operating parameters and settings. Directly overhead, a large high-visibility panel offers an unobstructed view when the loader is raised to its maximum height, such as when stacking bales. For an exceptionally smooth ride, Comfort Ride cab suspension can be added to Dual Command models, reducing shock loads reaching the operator by up to 25%.

New PowerStar Series tractors are slated to arrive at dealerships in Q4 2025.
