McKee

farm

The McKee story commenced in 1949, originating with brothers Gerald and Russell McKee in Elmira, Ontario. Their initial endeavor involved the conception and construction of a forage blower. This evolved into the innovative McKee One Man Harvester – a forage harvesting machine that dramatically reduced the manpower traditionally needed for baling. During the early 1980s, McKee also facilitated the import and resale of tractors manufactured by Ebro, a Spanish company, adding another dimension to their agricultural offerings.

Mercedes-Benz

farm

Before uniting in 1925, both Daimler and Benz were independently engaged in the construction of agricultural machinery. Benz notably pioneered the first commercially available diesel-powered tractor in 1922. Mercedes-Benz continued tractor production through the 1930s, later re-entering the agricultural sector in 1950 with the acquisition of Boeringer Unimog – a versatile, four-wheel-drive vehicle equipped with both a power take-off and three-point linkage. The Mercedes-Benz name once again graced tractors in 1973 with the introduction of the MB Trac, an innovative four-wheel-drive model boasting three-point hitch capability at both its front and rear. The distinct MB Trac design was then transferred to Schluter in 1980, culminating in the end of its production run in 1991.

Minneapolis logo

Minneapolis

farm

‘The Great Minneapolis Line’ served as the commercial designation for the threshing machines and tractors produced by the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company. Established in 1887, the company initially distributed steam engines manufactured by Huber and Allis before commencing the development of its own proprietary designs. By 1910, Minneapolis had ventured into the burgeoning gasoline tractor market, crafting a diverse array of tractors with power outputs reaching as high as 80 horsepower. The economic hardships of the Great Depression created substantial challenges for Minneapolis Threshing Machine, leading to a consolidation with Minneapolis Steel & Machinery and Moline Plow in 1929, ultimately resulting in the creation of Minneapolis-Moline.

The Minneapolis-Moline legacy began in 1929 with the unification of three prominent agricultural companies: Minneapolis Steel and Machinery, the Minneapolis Threshing Machine Company, and the Moline Plow Company. Minneapolis Steel contributed valuable expertise in tractor design and manufacturing, having previously built machines for both Case and Bull, alongside their own successful Twin City line. By the late 1930s, Minneapolis-Moline introduced the revolutionary model UDLX Comfotractor. This innovative machine boasted a swift high-speed transmission and a fully enclosed cab equipped with heating and a radio—a level of operator luxury that significantly surpassed the standards of its era. In 1963, White Motors acquired Minneapolis-Moline, ultimately discontinuing the Minneapolis-Moline brand name in 1974.

Minot

farm

Minot-branded tractors originated as Jinma tractors manufactured in China, and were then retailed through Tractor Supply Company locations. The inaugural Tractor Supply Company store first opened its doors in Minot, North Dakota, providing a fitting namesake for the tractor line. These tractors were available at a select number of TSC stores for a relatively short period, approximately from 2006 to 2008. Accounts suggest that assembly of these units took place in Indiana, handled by Homier, the same company responsible for the distribution of the Farm Pro brand.

Montana logo

Montana

farm

From 2004 until 2011, Montana Tractors operated as a nationwide distributor of both compact and utility tractors within the United States. While LG (subsequently LS) of South Korea served as the principal manufacturing force behind Montana's offerings, the Montana product range also encompassed tractors sourced from a diverse group of manufacturers including Escorts, Kukje, Sonalika, TYM, and UTB/Universal. The direct entry of LS Tractors into the American marketplace in 2010 effectively severed Montana's core supply line. Despite diligent efforts to establish an alternative tractor procurement channel, these proved fruitless, leading Montana to cease the sale of new tractors by the close of 2010.

Müller established itself as a prominent Brazilian producer of robust, four-wheel drive tractors and heavy-duty construction equipment. Originating in 1956, the company initially focused on building compactors before venturing into agricultural tractor production in the mid-1970s. The Müller tractor range grew progressively, with increasingly powerful models introduced throughout the mid-1980s.
